 Photo: Fred Hardy August 2023, Two dramatic races rounded out the weekend at the GT4 event at Road America. The no. 92 Random Vandals Racing CrowdStrike/AWS BMW landed in P2 (Silver Class) in both races, after extended on-track battles.
The finishes gained valuable points for the driving duo Kevin Boehm and Kenton Koch, as the halfway point of the 2023 season was crossed. Next, the team heads to Sebring International Raceway for not two, but three races that weekend in the hunt for the championship.
There was no shortage of battles on track in Race 3 with TC America at Road America. Ride along as I fight my way to the front. Due to a crash in another class, I had been shuffled back to 6th place and needed to fight my way back into podium position. I finished in P2--and about a week later, was moved to P1 due to a competitor's disqualification.

A pair of military veterans – Staff Sgt. Chad Failing (Ret.) and Staff Sgt. William Babineau (Ret.) – will be part of the CrowdStrike Racing crew on Kevin Boehm’s No. 9 CrowdStrike/AWS/DXDT Honda Performance Development (HPD) Civic Si effort for the remaining 2020 rounds of the Touring Car America (TCA) class, a companion series to GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS in SRO Motorsports America.
SUNNYVALE, Calif. (Aug. 26, 2020) – Following its most successful weekend as part of SRO America and GT World Challenge powered by AWS, CrowdStrike and the CrowdStrike Racing program head to one of the highlights on the race calendar in hopes of adding not just to its collection of trophies for 2020, but also its advantage in the GT World Challenge America Pro-Am Drivers’ Championship.
Your speed on a straight isn't only determined by your horsepower. It's also influenced by the speed you went through the turn leading onto the straight and how soon you go to full throttle. Here is a perfect example, (illustrated by passing a Porsche), aided with just a little bit of a draft as well. This video was filmed in my Honda Civic Type R Engine Swap at Road America.
Road America is one of my favorite tracks. In July, I drove it again for an SCCA racing event, getting two poles and two first-place wins.
Here is a video from one of my fast laps. At this raceway, wide open corner exits are tempting to use, but the curbing is very rough so precision is rewarded with speed.
