SONOMA, Calif. (April 10, 2024) – CrowdStrike Racing and its drivers made quite the statement for the opening of the SRO Motorsports America season: the GT World Challenge Sonoma Raceway Protected by CrowdStrike.

CrowdStrike by Riley got out fast in the defense of its 2023 Drivers Championship, with George Kurtz and Colin Braun driving the No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3 to a sweep of the 90-minute races in the Pro-Am category at the Fanatec GT World Challenge America.

Out of six races for CrowdStrike Racing drivers, five ended in podium finishes for the program. The results thrilled a group of more than 200 CrowdStrike employees, guests and VIPs.

Leading the way were the efforts of Kurtz and Braun, who grabbed early-season momentum in the Pro-Am Championship by winning the opening two rounds of the year.

Saturday saw the familiar sight of Kurtz, Braun and CrowdStrike by Riley on the winners’ step of the podium. On Sunday, Kurtz and CrowdStrike by Riley had a dramatic win after overcoming a five-second penalty for a mid-race pit infraction. The weekend also ended with the No. 04 team in another familiar spot – leading the drivers and teams’ Pro-Am points standings.

Kurtz also began his season in GT America Powered by AWS with a third-place podium run Saturday in the SRO3 class with another Mercedes-AMG GT3 from CrowdStrike by Riley. The 2002 series champion ended the weekend with a fourth-place finish in Sunday’s race to establish himself as a championship contender again.

In Pirelli GT4 America, Kevin Boehm and Kenton Koch also recorded multiple podium finishes with two second-place runs in their No. 97 CrowdStrike/AWS BMW M4 GT4 from Random Vandals Racing. Read more.

Driver Quotes

Kevin Boehm, No. 92 CrowdStrike BMW M4 GT4: “With CrowdStrike Racing taking a step into GT4 America, I knew there were going to be a lot of challenges this year. I went into it with open eyes and knowing I was going to need to learn a lot. I looked for every opportunity that I could all year. When I look back, I realize that we accomplished a lot. There were lots of times where we always wished there was a little more luck, but even with what we accomplished we can be proud as a team. It’s been a complete pleasure to learn from Kenton and the Random Vandals guys. It’s been an incredible year. As we look into the future, I think I have a lot more experience to build on and it’s only up from here.”

Kenton Koch, No. 92 CrowdStrike BMW M4 GT4: “It’s been awesome to be with Kevin this year. He’s brought a lot of things to the table that has made this program better and better. It’s nice to work with someone like that. He’s also gotten better as a driver in a GT4 car, and this weekend was the best he’s been all year. It’s cool to fly the CrowdStrike logo on the side of this BMW and I’m very fortunate to be part of it. I hope it’s not the last time because it’s been great driving with Kevin this year.”

  • CrowdStrike to welcome employees, families for fun-filled day at Sonoma Raceway
  • CXO Summit to lead CrowdStrike activation programs

AUSTIN, Texas (March 29, 2023) – Following a “soft launch” of the 2023 SRO Motorsports America season last month in St. Petersburg, CrowdStrike Racing heads to Sonoma Raceway for a full program of competition this weekend with entries in each of SRO America’s premier GT racing series.

The opening of the SRO America weekend is part of the GT Challenge of Sonoma protected by CrowdStrike. A stunning field of 140 cars are entered across five race series that will test their mettle around the 1.99-mile, 12-turn Sonoma Raceway circuit.

CrowdStrike Racing will be present in three categories at Sonoma:
  • Fanatec GT World Challenge America: No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3 from CrowdStrike Racing by Riley for George Kurtz and Colin Braun
  • GT America Powered by AWS: No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3 from CrowdStrike Racing by Riley for George Kurtz
  • Pirelli GT4 America: No. 92 CrowdStrike/AWS BMW M4 GT4 from Random Vandals Racing for Kevin Boehm and Kenton Koch
  • GT World Challenge and GT4 America each will contest their first rounds of the season while GT America holds its third and fourth races.

In their first race of the season together, Kurtz and Braun will look to win at Sonoma for the third – and possibly fourth – time. There are two 90-minute races in GT World Challenge, and the pairing were victorious once in each of the last two seasons at Sonoma in their CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG.

In addition, Kurtz swept the opening weekend of GT America in 2021 at Sonoma and captured one of the two 40-minute races a year ago in another CrowdStrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG. He will look for his first GT America victory of 2023 this weekend.

New to the CrowdStrike Racing program is Pirelli GT4 America. After claiming championships in two of SRO America’s Touring Car categories in 2020 and 2022, Boehm is “graduating” to production-based GT racing with the CrowdStrike/AWS BMW M4 GT4 from Random Vandals Racing alongside new teammate Koch. Boehm Supports Operation Motorsport and Celebrates Teamwork at the 2022 Race of Remembrance

11/14/2022

Anglesey, Wales (November 13, 2022) – Two-time touring car champion and CrowdStrike Racing/AWS driver Kevin Boehm closed out a winning 2022 season by participating in the 2022 Race of Remembrance (RoR), held November 11-13, 2022, at Anglesey Circuit, Wales, UK with the non-profit veterans organization, Operation Motorsport.

For the RoR event, Boehm was one of eight drivers representing the USA and Canada. Operation Motorsport was the only North American team competing in the 12-hour sports car endurance race, which was highlighted by a pit lane Remembrance Service on Sunday morning.

The Operation Motorsport team was composed of Canadian and American active duty military personnel, veterans, Skip Barber Racing School staff, donors, and drivers like Boehm, who was invited / sponsored to lend engineering support and drive as a member of the team by Amazon Web Services (AWS). The team fielded two Honda Racing / HPD Civic Type R TCs for the event and the liveries of both cars featured the names of more than 600 active duty military, veterans, and loved ones on the hoods, including major contributions from the veterans’ groups at AWS and CrowdStrike.

Although many of the team’s beneficiaries had not met before the event, they competed against many well prepared and professional teams and finished P6 and P8 in class (P8 and P12 overall). This exceeded expectations and demonstrated the power of veteran recovery through motorsport.

“We’ve been working with Operation Motorsport since 2020, aiding in the recovery of their beneficiaries by embedding them within the CrowdStrike Racing/AWS team throughout the race season,” Boehm said. “Thanks to our partnership with AWS and our shared vision for helping wounded warriors, I was thrilled to participate in the Race of Remembrance with Operation Motorsport. At race events we typically focus on competing, but at the Race of Remembrance, the focus was on teamwork, recovery, setting the beneficiaries up for success, honoring our veterans, and remembering the fallen. Enormously proud of the work our beneficiaries did at the event–you enabled the team to carry the names on the hoods of the cars with honor.”

Operation Motorsport beneficiaries will continue to work with the CrowdStrike Racing/AWS team, including Boehm, during the 2023 race season.

Race of Remembrance will return next year, November 10th-12th, 2023.
