GT4 America at Road America Recap

We crossed the finish line in first in both races, but only one of them counted as a win.

Race 1:

• Kevin started in 6th position and quickly moved into 5th before an early yellow halted the progress. The long yellow period resulted in very few laps for Kevin to continue his march forward, but he took advantage of the limited time battling with the cars ahead while staying close to the leaders. A perfectly executed pitstop put Kenton into position to pick up where Keven left off and eventually claim the lead where he stayed for the remainder of the race resulting in our second win of the year. 

Race 2: 

• Kenton started in 2nd position and claimed the lead early in the race. Kenton dived into pit lane expecting a yellow flag due to debris on the track, following an out of class competitor very closely. After the driver change, Kevin was able to pass the out of class competitor for the overall lead moments after leaving pit lane, just before the expected yellow flag was displayed. 
• After the restart, the team was notified that we had to serve a penalty due to a speeding infraction in pit lane, but without ample time to serve the drive through penalty before the end of the race, Kevin was instructed to stay on track and try to build a gap to our competitors. 
• Although Kevin crossed the finish line first, a time penalty equivalent to the drive through was added to our finishing time moving us from 1st to 6th position in the final results. 
• Normally, a pit lane speeding violation is due to driver error. However, after a deep dive into the data, we found an anomaly with the on-board Pit Speed Limiter function on our car. Kevin discusses the details of the error in this video and what we changed to prevent the same issue in the future in this video.
